I have read and re read the different e books when I need inspiration to do my work out. By the time I am 2 paragraphs in (to Female Fat Loss Over 40), I am ready to get my work out clothes on and go for it. I really enjoy the challenging work outs and the audio book with the different timing intervals makes it easy!! I am really enjoying your program, particularly these 2 months which are especially busy for me. I can’t always make it to Boot camp but I feel so much better when I exercise. It’s great to have the option of doing a challenging workout at home. I am looking forward to taking your program on my next vacation. Thanks!!

Hey Shawna, I bought the FFLO about a month ago and have finally started using it on Tuesday. I quit waiting for Monday to start it. It's just been 3 days but I can already tell that it is working. I sleep better and want to eat better so that I'll see results. How can I mess up with menus and workouts spelled out for me? I know what I need to do and have worked with trainers over the years to know that your program will work. For me it has just been a matter of getting started. I gained 15 lbs over the winter and need to get it off. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Type 2 diabetes so exercise is a key part of my health. I love to walk / run but I know that with the interval training I will not only see the results I want on my body but my blood sugar will be where it needs to be. The interval training is a great workout for me in the morning. Then in the evenings I can walk for stress relief and to just relax. I saw myself in your message yesterday about the woman who still tries to walk everyday for 2 hours - who has time for that? I enjoy your blogs and am glad that I found you on Facebook! Five reasons why parents need to spend time with their kids.

We’re all made with the need for attention, kids included. Without physical touch and emotional attention as infants, babies will fail to thrive and are at risk for lasting emotional, behavioral, and social problems. This need doesn’t go away once a child reaches school age or the teenage years.

Between working, sleeping, extracurricular activities, and social commitments your life is busy. Quality time with kids often gets put on the back burner as something you’ll get to when you have extra time. From a distance your kids seem happy enough with friends, doing their sports, and on their screens, so why bother?

In their own way, kids will let you know they need your attention. This may be through acting out, withdrawing, throwing tantrums, crying, whining, or rebelling. In many cases kids would rather have your negative attention (yelling or disciplining) than no attention at all.

Don’t underestimate the importance of spending quality time with your kids on a regular basis. Here’s why.

Feeling Loved

You know the feeling you get when a friend calls and wants to hang out. You feel a boost in confidence. The same happens with your kids. When they know their parents desire to spend time with them, it makes them feel loved and important. Everyone has the need to feel loved. It’s not just saying the words “I love you” that’s important. It’s showing that love through time spent together. A lack of attention is one of the greatest ways to make someone feel unloved. Without love you feel lost, lonely, and purposeless. You are more likely to be angry, unkind, and bitter. Kids need to feel like they matter to you, and time is the best way to do it.

Learning about Life

When mom and dad are always at work, on their phones, or watching television, where do kids learn about life? From their friends and the media. Is that where you want your kids to learn right from wrong or the meaning of life? One-on-one time spent with your kids is a wonderful way to pass on your values, guide them through life’s big questions, and teach them social skills. Without feeling loved through quality time, parents’ rules and advice often go through one ear and out the other.

Know Each Other

You’ve known your kids since the day they were born, but how well do you really know them? What are their feelings, thoughts, passions, and dreams? What are their strengths and weaknesses? You may pick up on these things through casual contact, but it’s hard to truly know someone without spending time together. If you don’t know what’s going on in your child’s mind they may not feel loved and accepted and you won’t be able to speak truth into their lives. Keep the lines of communication open through quality time.

Builds Security and Confidence

Healthy, positive, focused attention builds a child’s sense of security, confidence, and self-esteem. Teachers and caretakers of kids can often identify children who don’t receive enough attention from their parents. A lack of focused attention can cause kids to be anxious, less mature than their classmates, withdrawn, exceedingly dependent on other adults, or have trouble dealing with conflict. Girls who lack attention from their fathers may become overly outgoing, dramatic, obnoxious, or act out sexually.
